t day
we are going to michigan for t day. it is snow there. it is not snowing here though. it is relatively nice, walk-around-in-a-sweater-almost weather in st louis. we like drinking hot cocoa and going to the zoo while we still can.
november is almost over and advent is almost here and christmas will be soon and them we go to california.
i work at the post office and deliver mail. whether rain or sleet or snow, the mail must go though. and it does.
in january we find out if we go to england. if we do it would be a nice thing. if not, we will travel the seven seas anyways.

Summer is winding down. School started for becca and starts for me soon. I get to learn how to preach.
We are going to Michigan for labor day. We will go to the lake and the dunes and to bell's brewery.
We had a good trip out to LA to visit friends. And up to chicago with more friends and a wedding.
hooray.

We just ate Vietnamese food and now are working on papers. Becca's in on the movie "Independence Day" and mine is on the catechism. Last week of classes. Hooray. I am drinking coffee and becca is drinking iced tea. she probably has the better idea because is in 97 degrees out. But I hate the heat and so I am drinking hot coffee to spite it. It will make it mad and I will be victorious because I can drink hot things on hot days. Everyone will be in awe of my mad skills. The newscrews will probably be arriving shortly to interview me. Oh, wait. Here they are. Got to go.

As so eloquently stated by Darren.. My office helped out Habitat for Humanity. The houses were in North St Louis which if you know anything about STL you know it is a ghetto wasteland of crumbling brick houses (though it used to be a really beautiful old timey neighbourhood). The city is pushing for redevelopment and this is one of many projects going on at the moment (across the street they are restoring a bitchin church). The women we are helping out (the soon to be homeowner) has to put in 460 hours of sweat equity into her house. She was well deserving and very sweet. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy and also very tired. It was reminiscent of past mission trips only this time I got to wear shorts and not skirts AND I'll get to check out the house when its done. I'm sooo bitchin with a hammer.
Pic: I'm the one with white man legs and a bitchin tool belt in the front

The Big Shake
We felt the 5.1 earthquake this morning around 4:30. No damages, just a little shock. It's funny that we leave LA and for the first time since the '89 earthquake in S.F. I experience a pretty big one and I'm in the Midwest! This whole winter I have been terrified of the weather (tornadoes, ice storms, driving in snow) Personally weather is still more intimidating then a little shaky poo. Earthquakes are fun!

Greetins

I made up an offensive rap song with Kristen so if you would like to hear it give me a call.
Well it's warm today.. 45! It's also Friday and that is sweet.
I start school in a few weeks! I'm going back for my MA in Media Literacy at Webster University. One class at a time and I should be out in 2 1/2 years. The best part besides the curriculum is that I can take about a year worth of classes online that way we can go on Vicarage and possibly to Cambridge with out it adversely effecting my degree getting efforts too much. I'm glad to have something to work towards seeing as employment prospects in St Louis have been grim and boring... I'm still kicking it with Lawyers. Ryan Patterson.. please don't be a douche bag lawyer.. I know you wont because your not a douche bag.. but the non douche bags are hard to come by.
Darren and I really miss everyone. We are wondering who will be in Southern California in early August. This is when we may have time to go. LET US KNOW
Love

St louis is cold, then kind of warm, then cold again. We almost fell down our stairs, for ice's sake, so I sprinkled salt and pepper all over the ground then it was ok. We have been going to tapas bars a lot. "Tapas" as in Spanish food, not as in some other kind of place.
My spring term starts in only a few days. I am excited to start studying systematic theology in a class called "Lutheran Mind." The languages have been good, but my bread and butter is the theology. It is what drew me back to the church and to the Lutheran faith and now to seminary.
Whenever I tell people that I go to Concordia Seminary, they seem confused. I don't think most people know what a seminary is. I was thinking that maybe I should say that I am a divinity student, but I suppose that could be confusing as well. I will say thus verbatium: "I attend Concordia Seminary where I am studying Systematic, Pastoral, Historical, and Exegetical Theology for the purpose of attaining ordination into the Holy Ministry." or I could just say that I am studying to be a pastor.
We got Netflix again. It's good to welcome back an old friend. We do have cable too and have become fond of various shows. Most involve eating and traveling: "The adventures of Mark and Olly living with the Mek Tribe," "No Reservations with Anthony Bordein" "Extreme meals with Andrew Zimern" "Antiques roadshow" Tcm, Lost. We have become tving people. It is fun sometimes, but it mostly necessity. It is too cold to romp and play outside in the park and at the zoo and in AwesomeTown USA. We read books too though. I got Becca Harry Potter books. She is on #3 and I am on #4. We are reading them because we like witchcraft. I am interested in dark magic and sorcery and casting evil spells. I like to pretend that I am at Hogwarts when I walk to class because Concordia kind of looks like it. I pretend that Professors Feuerhaun, Warnick and Wessleschmidt are like Dumbledore and Snape and Hagrid. I use my Nestle-Aland Greek text for an owl. And my Biblia Hebraica Stuttgardensia is a wand. Parsing Hebrew verbs is like making a potion for Snape and translating the book of Ephesians is like winning the quiddich cup. or not.

It's Cold in Heeere
We had a super good time with Kate and Zach. I think they would attest to St Louis offering a good time too all. It was nice to show them around and regain a little excitement about what the city has to offer. Mostly it was wonderful to have them good friends around.
This weekend we saw Cloverfield with some good people that we know in St Louis. We went to the "Ghetto Theater" so to speak. There have been story's told about this place because of what the audience says when you are watching movies.
For example, at a not to distant screening of the Hulk this was heard:
Cell Phone call in the middle of movie: "Uh ha, yeah, The hulk, He green"
We heard:
Scene in Cloverfield, general mayhem taking place: "Homegurl better take off them heels"
You get the point. I found it much more entertaining then the actual movie. Darren and I made a pact to go see blockbusters at this delightful establishment in the future. Summer, it gonna rule!
It's movie week.. tonight we see "There Will be Blood", I have high hopes.
I leave you with pictures from Kate and Zach's St Louis/Harbaugh experience.

Week in Preview
The Great Kate and Zach will be coming tomorrow. The very talented Zach has a show at White Flag Projects here in St Louis. It's going to rule! I can't wait to show our good friends around town.
I hope to post some good time pictures of our trip out west soon... we played a lot of Rock Star and Guitar Hero so there are many good time videos to show as well. But alas I've been lazy.
We are busy working, working, working. Darren started back to school yesterday and is trying to pull off a 25 hour work week at the same time... ug. He affectionately refers to Hebrew as "The Brew" but I simply view it as cruel and unusual punishment. I'm confident he will smite it!
I'm still temping and really hating the vioxx SO.. contemplating going back to school.. this time I'm actually applying.
Cheers for now

Happy new year!
Hope 2008 is awesum!
i have 3 big breaks coming up: mid feb-marchy, mid may-juney, and late augusty. I hope we can get out to california Sur for one of them.
it is cold here, like in the single digits. let me go outside quick and see if it is still cold.
DAMN! yes. it is.
We had a great time with Becca's family in Nor Cal for Christmas. Videos to come.
We had a good New Year's Eve. We went to the new casino in town, Lumiare place. I drank Bud then played the slots and I won 10,000 dollars. It was cool. I spent it all on a new corvette that I crashed into the river though. Oh well.
